RPG Announces Emergency Medicine Medical Director

Rural Physicians Group Names Dr. David McAlpine as Medical Director – Emergency Medicine

 

[Denver, Colorado] — [March 2026] Rural Physicians Group (RPG) is excited to announce David McAlpine, MD, as our Medical Director of Emergency Medicine, leading the launch of RPG’s new Emergency Medicine service line. Dr. McAlpine brings extensive experience in emergency medicine across academic and community hospitals.

A native of Rochester, Minnesota, he earned his undergraduate degree at Wheaton College and his medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin, followed by an Emergency Medicine residency at Mayo Clinic and Medical Director Fellowship training through the American College of Emergency Physicians.

He began his career at Mayo Clinic, practicing across both main and affiliated community hospitals, and has held leadership roles including Trauma Director, EMS Advisor, and Medical Director. Most recently, he oversaw both Emergency Medicine and inpatient Critical Care at a community hospital and gained insights from critical access and smaller hospitals nationwide.
